Not sure if you have heard but ComReg, the telco regulator in Ireland, is developing an SMS Sender ID Register to prevent text scams and to protect the SMS channel as a reliable and trustworthy communications medium.  

By the end of this year, text messages with unregistered SMS sender ID’s will be blocked giving both brand owners and consumers greater peace of mind that any SMS related content they receive is not a spam attempt.
